Today, members of the Michigan Rwandan community came together for Iwacu Rwanda Family Day, a warm celebration of culture, connection, and shared belonging. Families, friends, and community leaders spent time together, shared food, and strengthened the relationships that make our community feel like home.
The gathering reflected the spirit of Iwacu: a place of welcome, care, and mutual support. It created space for conversation across generations and for the community to celebrate the many people who contribute to a stronger Michigan Rwandan Community Association.
During the celebration, MRCA was honored to recognize Madam Edna Mbangukira and Mr. JC Abayisenga with Certificates of Appreciation. The recognition celebrates their dedication, love, care, and lasting contributions to RCA members and to the wider community.
Their example reminds us that community grows through generous service, steady encouragement, and a willingness to care for one another. MRCA thanks them both for the positive example they continue to set.
Iwacu Rwanda Family Day also marked the launch of the new Michigan Rwandan Community Association website. The site is designed as a welcoming online home for community information, events, trusted resources, and stories that keep members connected.
The new website also includes Umuhuza — MRCA Community Guide, an AI-powered on-site assistant designed to help visitors navigate the platform, find community information, locate events and updates, and reach trusted resources more easily. Umuhuza is an MRCA community guide; official government, consular, and professional questions are directed to the appropriate official sources.
Community members are invited to visit michiganrca.org, share it with family and friends, and return often as new updates and opportunities are announced.
As the day came to a close, the celebration left a clear message: together, we can continue building a stronger, more connected, and more caring community. MRCA extends appreciation to everyone who joined, contributed, and helped make the gathering meaningful.
