A shared table can become the beginning of a new friendship. This fall, Michigan families are invited to Building Bridges: Challah Bake — a special morning designed to bring Jewish and Rwandan communities together through food, stories, culture, and time with one another.
The next gathering builds on the warm spirit of the previous Building Bridges experience, where families had an opportunity to meet across communities, exchange traditions, and create welcoming moments for children. This program continues that purpose: helping young people see that friendship, curiosity, and respect can grow when we learn side by side.
Children in Early Childhood through Grade 2, together with their parents and caregivers, will take part in a hands-on challah-baking experience. Along the way, families can share traditions, meet neighbors, and celebrate the values that connect our communities.
Building Bridges: Challah Bake will take place on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 10:45 AM at Temple Emanuel, 1715 Fulton St E, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to enroll their children and join the morning together. To register or ask a question, please call or text +1 (616) 290-6832, or email michiganrca@gmail.com.
We hope families will share this invitation with friends who would enjoy a welcoming morning of baking, culture, and community connection.
